The House
The last of four castles built by the de la Poer family after their arrival in 1167, Curraghmore is a unique construction. A combination of high-quality craftsmanship and unique architectural features from multiple styles and periods have lead to the estate being referred to as "immediately recognizable and undeniably moving".

In the late eighteenth century, the 1st Marquis of Waterford, secured the famous architect James Wyatt to modernize Curraghmore. Wyatt displayed his skills to create a series of rooms, with decoration considered by many to be among his most successful in the country.

After Wyatt’s Georgian developments, work at Curraghmore in the nineteenth century concentrated on the gardens and the Victorian refacing to the front of the construction.
